About Cassandra NightThunder
Cassandra NightThunder was born in Mitchell, South Dakota and raised in Colorado. She first picked up a camera in middle school, where her passion for taking pictures grew into a love of photography. Self-taught, starting with a Polaroid and a 35mm, she worked her way up to her first DSLR, a Canon EOS 1000D.
Moving to Italy in 2009, she used every opportunity she could to travel and capture her new surroundings. Further travel to Greece, Germany and Croatia would help her learn to find the light and textures that make an image worth keeping.
Returning to the United States in 2011 and officially started Looky Lu Photography with two goals; to provide high quality pictures at an affordable price, and also to use her passion for photography to help others preserve the most precious moments in their lives.
She upgraded her Canon 1000D to a Canon 60D with multiple lenses, focusing mostly on family portraits and children’s photography throughout 2012 and 2013. In 2014, she broadened her portfolio by branching out and making use of all that North Carolina had to offer in the way of more landscape and nature photography.
In August 2014, Cassandra had her first pictures included in Array Magazine, a local Fayetteville, NC publication.
Cassandra’s first feature in a gallery was a print named “Tranquility at Raven Rock", as an entry into the Black and White Colorblind Art Show.
